A Journey of Dedication and Achievement

DFW RIMS Celebrates Women's History Month: Kären Mayfield

As we celebrate Women's History Month, it's inspiring to reflect on the journeys of women who have made significant contributions in their fields. One such remarkable journey is that of DFW RIMS Member Kären Mayfield, whose career is a testament to dedication, resilience, and excellence. 𐚁

Career Journey

In 1994, Kären Mayfield embarked on her professional journey as a Regional Sales Manager, selling private investigation services to adjusters. Over the years, she has held various roles, including Area Sales Manager (ASM), where she was responsible for the sales and marketing of multiple product lines such as IMEs, Peer Reviews, Cost Projections, MSAs, Legal Nurse Reviews, and Field Case Management. For the past eight years, she has been a vital part of ProActive Partners, a woman and minority-owned nurse case management company that supports carriers, TPAs, employers, and Risk Managers with their employees' critical and catastrophic work injuries.

Proudest Achievements

Throughout her career, Kären has achieved numerous milestones:

  • Developed and maintained Concentra’s continuing education program for Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.
  • Selected as one of three ASMs nationwide to assist in developing the Concentra Case Management Service Sales Initiative.
  • Contributed to the development of Concentra’s vocational services program for displaced employees.
  • Honored as the DFW RIMS Vendor Partner of the Year in 2020 by the our board.

Rewarding Aspects of RIMS Involvement

Being involved with RIMS has been incredibly rewarding for Kären. She has enjoyed helping the RIMS committee chairs plan fun and educational events each year and receiving positive feedback from attendees.

Advice for Newcomers

For those new to the field, especially in sales and marketing, Kären advises: "Provide better customer service than your competitor, and your sales will take care of themselves."

Life Outside of Work

Outside of her professional life, Kären enjoys spending time with her Risk Manager husband, John Mayfield. Together, they love seeing live music, hiking, and watching their two sons play soccer. Their 20-year-old son plays at Trinity University in San Antonio, while their 16-year-old son plays for his high school and club teams.

Final Thoughts

Kären Mayfield's journey is a powerful reminder of the impact that dedication and passion can have on one's career and community. As we celebrate Women's History Month, let's continue to honor and support the incredible women who inspire us every day.
