President's Letter

Thriving Together: A Summer of Growth, Community & Opportunity!

I hope your summer is off to a bright and joyful start!  Can you believe that we are halfway through 2025 already!  We’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible strides our community continues to make. In the ever-evolving world of insurance and risk management, it’s leaders like you and our incredible volunteers who keep the industry moving forward—with sharp insight, strategic thinking, and a dash of courage.

A huge shoutout to our amazing Rising Risk Professionals Education Subcommittee (Jacque Jagger, Pamela Bradshaw, Tiara Wallace, and Jason Znoy) for hosting our first RRP Webinar at the end of April! The event was sponsored by IRMI and hosted the speakers Faith Likekele and Madison Summerlin.  The topic was Navigating Your First Years in the Industry. The event was packed with fresh energy, inspiring stories, and practical knowledge. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.  Thank you for setting the bar high and empowering the next generation of talent!  I also hear there is a mixer coming up in the fall!  We can’t wait to learn more about this!!

RISKWORLD was held in Chicago May 4th -May 7th.  Unfortunately, I missed Risk World this year, but I heard Martha Stewart delivered an amazing risk centric keynote that was motivating and inspiring.  I wish I could have been there to experience it first-hand!  The Texas RIMS Chapters Joint Happy Hour hosted during Risk World.  If you haven’t been before, check it out next year!  It’s a great time to meet up with local, familiar faces during the annual event!   I was pleased to hear that new members have been stepping up with enthusiasm to get involved in the chapter!  The sense of community and shared purpose is buzzing and it’s clear that our chapter is growing stronger than ever.   All the positive feedback has made me even more excited for the upcoming RIMS Texas Regional Conference this August!  We hope to see you there!

I am excited to announce that Latanya Christian has joined the board as a director and will chair the Educational Committee effective June the 10th. She is bringing a fresh wave of energy and enthusiasm into the role.  We have every confidence that she will successfully lead the Educational Committee and continue to deliver an outstanding and impactful program the remainder of the year.  At the same time, I would like to extend a sincere gratitude to our outgoing Director and former Educational Chair, Jason Shepard. He did a fantastic job guiding the committee through the first half of the year. His dedication and volunteerism have been truly appreciated and has set a strong foundation for continued success. Thank you, Jason!  Good luck in Austin!! Please join us in welcoming our new director and thanking our previous leader for his excellent service!

Our Annual Board Elections are just around the corner! We are seeking passionate, hardworking individuals to step into leadership roles!  This year we have several seats coming up!  We are looking for Risk Managers and Vendor partners!  This is an exciting opportunity to give back to the Dallas-Fort Worth risk community while sharpening leadership and governance skills, expanding your professional reach, and collaborating with an influential, forward-thinking board! Please apply if you are ready to make a meaningful impact and help drive the mission forward!

As always, thank you for being the best part of DFW RIMS.  We can’t wait to see you at our next event!

Cheers,

Marissa K. Holland
